Origin

Pugs were kept to entertain Chinese emperors during the Shang Dynasty (1776-1122 BC) in Eastern China, known as Lo-Chiang-Sze or Foo. The popularity of pugs spread to Tibet, especially many kept by the monks, and then brought to Japan and eventually Europe.
